2022 Garden Learning Series - No. 6 Putting Your Garden to Sleep

2022 Gardening Series FIN 6 Bonus Fall Garden to Sleep

Thanks to all who attended our Garden Learning Series workshops from February through June.

In partnership with University of Illinois Extension Lake County and Master Gardeners, we had over 1,600 registrations in total for these programs which were sponsored by a SWALCO USDA grant focusing on food waste diversion and composting!

And, everyone who attended, by virtue of providing some simple, yet helpful data, has also been part of this important grant and work.

We are happy to announce we’ve decided to add a 6th bonus workshop to the series on September 14.  Learn tips and techniques for Fall Garden Clean-up and how to Put Your Garden to Sleep.  This presentation will help organize fall tasks into an easy to-do list. It will help you put your garden to sleep for the winter to prepare for spring. We’ll talk about benefits of applying compost in fall, discuss how autumn garden tasks can take into account overwintering birds, insects, and pollinators, along with other topics. This will be our final workshop in the series for 2022.  Stay tuned for details about a free compost Bring Your Own Bucket Pick-up event -- you'll learn all about that at the presentation too.

Happy Gardening!
